Sony Mobile officially launches the Xperia XZ2 with new design and 18:9 display
The Xperia XZ2 now comes with a large 5.7-inch IPS HDR displays with HDR support. Unlike the predecessor models, the new Xperia XZ2 now features 18:9 aspect ratio with Full HD+ resolution. The new design makes the smartphone about 11.1mm thick and weighs about 198g. The new “Ambient Flow” design is also dust and waterproof with IP65/IP68 certifications.
The front and back panels are protected with Gorilla Glass 5. Speaking of which, Sony has shifted the fingerprint scanner to the rear side of the device and has also relocated the camera lens with LED flash. The camera is still the same 19MP sensor called the Sony IMX400 with f2.0 aperture, along with 5-axis stabilization and the predictive laser, phase and contrast AF detection. The camera is also capable of shooting HDR images and you also get the good old 960 fps super-slow-motion video recording. The front 5MP camera also features SteadyShot stabilization and with an aperture of f2.2.
The smartphone comes powered by the latest Snapdragon 845 chipset and 4GB of RAM with 64GB of UFS, high-speed storage. Of course, you can always expand that using a MicroSD card. As for the battery, the Xperia XZ2 packs a 3180 mAh battery. Did we mention that there is a curvature on the rear side of the smartphone, which Sony claims that it will help users to comfortably hold the device. Another new change that may not be good news for some is that the Xperia XZ2 doesn’t come with a headphone jack. This means you will need to rely on the USB Type-C to 3.5mm audio adapter.
The Sony Xperia XZ2 is stated to come in Liquid Black, Liquid Silver, and Deep Green colors. We will let you know once the devices are officially launched in the UAE.
