Huawei P20 Pro And Porsche Design Huawei Mate RS Officially Launched In UAE
At the Multaqa Al Adwa Atrium in City Walk, Dubai, UAE, Huawei has officially unveiled their latest generation of flagship smartphones called the P20 Pro and the Porsche Design Mate RS. These new devices offer new design aesthetics, all-screen display and the world’s first ever triple-lens camera setup.
Let’s talk about the Huawei P20 Pro. The smartphone features an iPhone X-alike bezel-less display, with a screen size of 6.1-inch OLED display and 1080 x 2240 pixels as the resolution. There is also a fingerprint scanner just below the display and the sensor is claimed to be always on and doubles as a multi-purpose control button. The device is powered by the Kirin 970 processor, an octa-core CPU that features 4x A73 cores and 4x A53 cores. There is 6GB of RAM on this device and 128GB of internal storage and expandable memory via the second SIM slot.
Another new addition is the massive 24MP front camera with the support of an F2 aperture lens. One of the exciting features is the inclusion of a triple-lens camera, consisting of a 40MP larger sensor with F1.8 aperture, an 8MP telephoto lens with F2.4 aperture, and a 20MP monochrome shooter with F1.8 aperture. The monochrome shooter resides as a separate camera, away from the main camera module. This new camera setup offers a maximum ISO of 102,400. The front camera is the same as the one found on the P20 and can be also used for face unlock via a 2D mapping feature. The P20 Pro packs a larger 4000 mAh battery and can fast charge up to 58% in 30 minutes. While both the smartphones feature the same design and build quality, the Huawei P20 Pro is certified for IP67, which means this device is rated for dust and water resistance. Both the smartphones run on Android 8.1 and EMUI 8.1 as its skin.
The next device is the premium Porsche Design Huawei Mate RS smartphone that packs almost the same specifications of the P20 Pro (CPU, RAM, Storage, Battery and the Camera). However, the display is 6-inches in size with 18:9 aspect ratio and the resolution is 1440 x 2880. Another factor that differentiates the Porsche Design is the inclusion of not one but two different fingerprint scanners. One is located on the rear side as opposed to the front mounted scanner of the P20 Pro, and the second fingerprint scanner is embedded under the main display. We have heard about the Apple rumours in the past of an on-screen fingerprint scanner but Huawei clearly got ahead of them. Additionally, the PD Mate RS doesn’t have a notch on the front as the P20 Pro.
The Huawei P20 Pro is officially priced at AED 2999 in the UAE and the Porsche Design Huawei Mate RS for AED 5999 in the UAE.
