Apple has unveiled its latest generation of smartphones and the Apple iPhone XS Max is the biggest smartphone that the Cupertino company has ever made to date. Thanks to the bezel-less display, you get an aspect ratio of 19:5:9. The display is supported by Dolby Vision HDR and HDR10 technologies. The screen runs at a refresh rate of 120Hz. This is aimed at a faster and smoother experience while watching movies or playing games. But it should be known that the operating system will still run at 60fps. The display also brings in support for HDR technologies mainly Dolby Vision and HDR10. The smartphone is 7.7mm thick and weighs about 208g. The smartphone is powered by Apple’s fastest processor called the A12 Bionic, a hexa-core chip that rivals all smartphones in the market in terms of performance. Apple claims that the new processor is 15% faster in CPU tasks and 50% faster for gaming performance. The focus on gaming performance is obvious since the new model uses a 120Hz display. There is 4GB RAM to handle the super-smooth performance with iOS 12 operating system and that has always been the case as Apple apps are far more optimized. Yes, rival companies have always made devices that have more RAM but that doesn’t need to be the case for an Apple iPhone. While there isn’t any upgradable storage, users are given the option to choose between the 64GB, 256GB, and 512GB internal storage capacity options.

In terms of camera performance, the iPhone XS Max packs a pair of dual-lens camera. One features a 12MP shooter with an aperture of F1.8 and the other features a 12MP with F2.4, each meant for wide angle and telephoto shots. Both the cameras come with support for dual Optical Image Stabilization and PDAF capability for fast autofocus speeds and shake-free video recording. The iPhone XS Max is capable of recording videos up to 4K resolutions at 60 fps. The pixel size of the sensor is 1.4um and that’s wider than the 1.22um of the Apple iPhone X. This means the sensor can gather more light and deliver better photos. The same camera is also used in the smaller Apple iPhone XS. Apple has also implemented its new Smart HDR image processing that combines the best of multiple pictures and picks the best portions of each image for the best-looking result. The front-facing camera of the smartphone packs a 7MP selfie snapper that can record 1080p videos at 60fps.

And there is the support of Dual-SIM which is a first in the history of Apple iPhones. Technically speaking, you get a single nano-SIM slot and an e-SIM integrated. That means you only get to swap one SIM freely while you program the e-SIM with the operator. But, if you don’t want an e-SIM, then there is always the Chinese variant that comes with two nano-SIM slots instead. This will be a device that you need to get it arranged elsewhere, but officially, UAE will be getting the Apple iPhone XS Max with an e-SIM. The smartphone is also certified with IP68 dust and water resistance, which means it can go under 2m and last for 30 minutes. So, you don’t need to worry about any accidental splashes.

While there isn’t a fingerprint scanner, you get to use the Face ID scanner that unlocks the phone by scanning your face. Apple says that the facial scanner has been improved as compared to the Apple iPhone X, so it unlocks faster. If you ask us, we think Apple could have left the Touch ID fingerprint scanner as a facial scanner may not be always the practical solution. We understand they wanted to keep the screen as big as possible, but again, placing the scanner on the rear side was an easy alternative too. The battery of the iPhone XS Max is claimed to have about 90 minutes longer than the iPhone X. The device also supports wireless charging. The total battery capacity is 3174 mAh. The Apple iPhone XS Max is available in Space Gray, Silver and Gold colors.

With Apple iPhone XS Max as the biggest flagship the company has ever made, its evident that users and buyers would prefer this model over the iPhone XS, and with the improved camera performance, its a worthy upgrade, even if the price is quite high.
